This eclectic gem of a place is Balique Vintage Café and is located on the main Jimbaran high street in front of Intercontinental Hotel. The first thing that strikes you about this beautiful café is the interior design; a carefully thought out colour scheme in teal, purple and white wash paired with many interesting and opulent textures. Vintage by name and definitely vintage by nature, there are treasures from all eras dotted around the space. The retro inspiration doesn’t stop at the furniture, with pieces like old tin watering cans and teapots re-appropriated as artwork, wooden chests made into shelves and giant glass mason jars filled with treats that sit atop the timber benches.

This eatery is perfectly located in the seaside spot of Jimbraran as the relaxed nature of the café perfectly compliments the easy going nature of the local way of life. On the menu here you can expect a selection of local treats that will satisfy the big and little kids alike, as children are very welcome to dine at Balique. The very talented and professional team at Balique are astonishingly tri-lingual, speaking French, English and of course the native tongue of Bahasa Indonesia – this makes the restaurant all the more unique and so friendly.

The style savvy brains behind Balique is a fabulous Belgian couple, Zohra and Blaise and they have spent many years curating and collecting the various trinkets you will come across when you visit. Walking into this place is like walking into someone’s well decorated home and it will give you the feeling of almost stepping back in time.

But let’s talk drinks menu, because that is what they do best. The cocktails are made to order by one of the brilliant mixologist bar staff and will be a perfect way to wind down after a long day of sightseeing around the area.

Unfortunately no breakfast is available but lunch starts from 11:30am through to 6pm and dinner is 6pm – 11pm, if you do fancy a late night snack dessert and tapas are able to be ordered right up until 11:45pm. Yum! Valet parking is also provided for guests of Balique.
