Bumbu Bali I is a restaurant and cooking school located in stunning Nusa Dua that opened its doors in 1997. Ever since then they have welcomed many guests and students into their realm. Nestled amongst a leafy paradise on the island of gods, you will feel totally relaxed and ready to pull on the chefs hat.

During a cooking class at Bumbu Bali, Nusa Dua you can expect to learn many types of dishes including traditional delicacies like slow roasted chicken, duck steamed in banana leaf, plenty of seafood dishes, soups and sates. There are many options for vegetarian cooking students with a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables along with tofu and tempe at you disposal. You will discover a whole new world of cooking with the use of indigenous spices and herbs and also those fancy tropical items you may not find in your supermarket at home. Desserts are a part of the program too, so the sweet tooths will be very happy, especially if you get to learn the black rice pudding they have on their restaurant menu… Delish!

If cooking isn’t your thing and you would rather take more os a backseat, Bumbu Bali invites you to join them for an evening of food and drink in their gorgeous open air restaurant for a night of festivities under the stars. The staff will greet you with ear to ear smiles and will make you feel right at home. The team in the kitchen are consummate professionals and know Indonesian cuisine inside out. Much research has been conducted into specifics of local home cooking and where the people in villages shop for their produce.

This restaurant has been architecturally designed to mimic the set up that is typical in large housing compound as seen around many villages in Bali, so it was only fitting that the food should match this. The dishes you will be treated to are something akin to traditional Indonesian street food but presented with a fine dining edge. We suggest trying a wide selection of everything on the menu and you will really learn about the flavours they work with on a daily basis.

Bumbu Bali is an absolute must see when in Nusa Dua and is open daily from 11am until 11pm. Bookings for cooking classes are essential and fill up very quickly, so contact them as soon as you know you want to attend and we suggest also making a reservation for your dining experience, especially for larger groups.
