Sardine is a gorgeous fine dining restaurant in the heart of Jalan Petitenget, a popular strip for tourist to cruise along. The restaurant is situated right on the perimeter of a working rice terrace with all tables overlooking it. During the day it is clear so you can see quite a long way down through the gardens and at night the entire place is lit up, creating an electric atmosphere.

The food served at Sardine is perfectly suited to the warm and humid conditions that Bali is well known for. Eating heavy meals is not something many people like to do in this climate, so the menu is specifically designed to be light, healthy and of course totally tasty! At Sardine, there is a focus on keeping things local and fresh. The menu changes daily as amendments are made to old favourites according to what ingredients are in season. This ensures that support goes to local farmers and fishermen, rather than importing produce from elsewhere.

Amazingly, all the vegetable, salad goods and herbs are sourced from their own onsite garden. This means everything is organic and is produced ethically. The owners and chefs have created a solid relationship with various fishermen from Jimbaran, who supply all the scrumptious seafood for all the dishes; keeping it local is very important to the Sardine team.

Pascal Chevillot and his partner Pika are the very down to earth owners who are passionate about delivering fantastic food and top notch service and can often be seen on the restaurant floor, greeting guests and making people feel at home. Along with executive chef, Michael Shaheen, they have created a venue very well loved within the local ex pat community and also the many tourists who keep coming back time after time.

Part of the restaurant is housed underneath a spectacular bamboo structure, leaving the air to flow freely through the building. You can also indulge in a little retail therapy in the Sardine Boutique where you will be able to purchase a something in keeping with their unique style to take home with you after your visit.

Open from 11:30am – 1am, Sardine is the perfect spot to stop off for a bite to eat for lunch or dinner.
