Butter cake and coffee shop is a sweet little cafe that offers a delightful selection of homemade baked treats and savoury bites in a quaint 30s-style setting. The bakery has a romantic history Polish ex-pat and Balinese lifeguard fall in love while on vacation, marry, settle in Bali, and soon after, this tiny gem in flourishing Canggu is born. Gita is on the premises daily baking her delectable goodies, and Marcello, a trained barista, makes excellent coffee. While the cafe is small in size, it’s big in personality and warmth, and the pair try to make every visitor feel welcome.

The cafe’s parlour-themed interior is just downright pretty, with pastel-hued walls, a teaspoon chandelier, and a little fireplace that looks like it came out of a storybook. The retro chairs and rockabilly music will make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time as you sit back and relax. The place is perfect to bring your little ones, who will be wide-eyed at the selection of milkshakes (like marshmallow flavour!), homemade lemonades and old-fashioned milk and cookies. Grown-ups love the infamous cinnamon scrolls, the yummy breakfast pies and cranberry and white chocolate scones. There is something to suit everyone’s tastes, even gluten free and dairy free options. And of course, you cannot deny yourself an expertly made cuppa or signature iced frappe.

If you’re celebrating a special event while here, such as a birthday or wedding, then Butter is the place to go for a customised cake, hands-down. From elegant to outrageous, Gita can whip up anything you’re after. Take a look at their Facebook page to see some of her incredible creations!
