La Plancha is located on a wide stretch of sand on Mesari Beach in Seminyak where you can pull up for an arvo of drinks and food all while reclined on a bean bag. This venue is recognisable from miles away because of the brightly hued, fringed umbrellas sticking out of the sand. Owner, Luigi Ferrara, felt like beautiful Bali was lacking in a little Spanish spice so he opened the restaurant in 2010, clearly hoping to emulate the atmosphere of his homeland.

The Spanish name reflects how they cook and serve the food; La Plancha simply means ‘the grill’. A super chilled vibe needs a simple and delicious menu and this place absolutely does not disappoint in that department. Fresh locally sourced ingredients are transformed into vibrant dishes for breakfast, lunch or dinner all week long.

Obviously red meat meat is the starring ingredient on the barbecue but unfortunately they don’t have too many options for the less carnivorous folk. Pescetarians will be right at home with grilled prawns, mahi mahi, tuna steaks all being marinated and thrown on the grill, and of course fries and crispy salad do accompany all dishes.

There’s a definitely party vibe around and it excitingly crescendoes towards sunset when the bar is at it’s busiest. You can expect to hear everything from reggae to soul being played by DJs over the two levels of the bar and throughout the big sand pit for grownups out the front.

La Plancha is open every day from 7:00am until 01:00am.
