Old Man’s beachfront beer garden is the perfect spot to hang out after a lengthy stint in the salty surf. This venue is most commonly described as ‘chilled’, and that it is. Bringing the idea of the surf club hang out back into fashion, it is situated right on Batu Bolong Beach in Canggu. There is plenty of parking outside for those visiting on scooters and a local surf hire hut just across the way. It is definitely a family friendly venue with a box of wooden toys to mess about with and the food simple enough to satisfy even the fussiest little eaters.

This surf club meets beach bar is owned by Australian expat, Sean Cosgrove, who has been running successful businesses in Bali for well over a decade. The atmosphere is inviting and the patrons are equally relaxed and ready for a good time, but quite frankly, it’s hard not to be when you visit the rather carefree area of Canggu.

Artist, Lucas Grogan was commissioned to spruce up the old walls with some beautifully vibrant artwork that is instantly recognisable as a part of Old Man’s. Big wooden communal tables and brightly upholstered couches furnish the inside, while comfy bean bags are dotted around if you fancy getting some sun on the grassed areas out the front. One big thatched roof houses the bar and the entire place is open to maximise the fresh beach breeze and fantastic views.

Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner Old Man’s is super cruisey and you will find yourself spending hours lazing about because of the total comfort factor. The menu offers a range of international and local dishes including everything from bircher muesli to nasi goreng. A special mention goes the the old faithful, the burger, chips and milkshake combo, always a winner. On Friday nights you will be entertained by live bands come Sunday, they have DJs spinning chill out tunes as the sun sets over the horizon.

Old Man’s is open daily  from  7am – 9pm.
